Welcome to Local 399 Asbury Park, NJ, of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) of the United States and Canada. The AFM has over 80,000 members, making it the world’s largest organization representing professional musicians. Members work in many areas of the music industry, including orchestras, backup bands, big bands, clubs, theaters, parades, and public service performances. Local Members Local 399 represents many of the finest professional musicians on the Jersey Shore. With such active members as Bruce Springsteen (a Local 399 member), Taylor Swift, Santana, Yo-Yo Ma, Willie Nelson, and The Goo Goo Dolls; there is a strong representation of major recording individuals and groups. The AFM has been promoting and protecting professional musicians for over 110 years. Local 399 was in Trenton today making a presentation to the Senate Commerce Committee, to introduce an Amendment regarding a tax credit for Netflix at Ft Monmouth.
Our Committee spoke in favor of a bill S4392 which amends the Garden State Film and Digital Media Jobs Act.
This Amendment will keep Movie and Television music recording (Netflix) which is currently being done overseas, performed right here in New Jersey
